10th ITALIAN SCULLING CHALLENGE

At the 10th edition of the Italian Sculling Challenge - Memorial don Angelo Villa - almost 120 athletes competed in the different categories on the Orta Lake.

The international caliber of the event has been witnessed by the participation of  athletes from 3 continents and 7 countries (Brazil, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, New Zealand, Slovenia and USA).

What has made the race even more exciting was the battle between the winner of the 2014 edition Jost Schomann Fink, considered one of the most favourites, and Romano Battisti (silver medal in the double race both at 2012 Olympics and 2014 World Championship).

The italian athlete, bearer of Fiamme Gialle, was able to get first to the arrival, which was located as usual in the Region of Bagnera at Orta San Giulio, travelling the almost 6 km of the track in 23'06''07''', Schomann Fink arrived in 23'11''03'''; great performance also for Francesco Pegoraro, third in 23'17''07''', fourth and fifth concluded class athletes like Francesco Rigon and Elia Luini.

"That was my first time at Orta Lake - commented Romano Battisti - and I really had great fun; Schomann Fink and me have traded several times the first position - the german was still ahead at the checkpoint of the Island of San Giulio, ndr - but at the end I was able to prevail; I liked the track very much - continues the winner - even if it was tough and dynamic; I'll come surely back to Orta Lake".  (Source: canottierilagodorta.it)

In the woman competion everything has gone as supposed, with the win of the current World Champion Emma Twigg, who right now is in Italy for study purposes and she's a member of the Canottieri Cernobbio: the strong athlete from New Zealand, who declared hersalf enthusiastic about the win, prevailed in 24'57''05''' over a high class athlete like Elisabetta Sancassani (Fiamme Gialle) by almost 1'30''; third arrived the bearer if Monopoli 2005 Fabiana Romito, in 27'43''07''', fourth and fifth arrived Martina Comotti and Greta Banfi.

DRY HEAT has participated to this exciting event awarding the top three ranked athletes of each category: Kids, Junior, Senior.

Moreover the brand new line "BE ROWER" was shown to all the rowing's fan, a line dedicated to this wonderful sport and created with the athlete Romano Battisti.
